SSP Health's mission statement is to deliver outstanding clinical services, responsive to patient needs, using traditional and innovative methods, encompassing a health and social care approach to enhance the quality of patients’ lives. SSP Health is the largest provider of primary care GP services in the North West of England, one of only three such organisations in England serving more than 140,000 patients. The company is run by Dr Shikha Pitalia, MBChB MRCGP, who has been a GP in a family practice since 1991, and her husband, Dr Sanjay Pitalia, also a GP. SSP Health currently manages 37 GP practice sites across 10 NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria. The company employs more than 400 people and has a head office in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.
